Marine surveyors
often have many sources of obtaining values of boat and yacht
prices. In addition to their own
references files, they also have Yacht Brokers, Insurance
records, BUC Used Boat
Price Guide. In addition there is another source that is
extremely valuable when pricing sail boats
and yachts, which is “Practical Sailor” that is
published twice a month. Practical Sailor
has comprehensive evaluations of
more than 100 different sail boats on line to show what they
said about
each boat for a fee.
Sail boat reviews are
featured regularly in the Practical Sailor magazine. The
sail boat in depth reviews can include
specifications, builder information, design plans, deck layout,
below decks, construction, diagrams,
photos, accommodations, performance (as they test each sail
boat), pricing, side-by-side comparisons,
owners comments, and conclusions. Individual sail boat
reviews can be obtained from Practical
Sailor for a fee.
Practical Sailor
also publishes and sells “Practical Boat Buying,”
which is a comprehensive and uncensored guide to more than
200 new and used boats on today’s sail boat market,
including owners comments and where the best
sail boats buys are located. In addition back issues can
also be obtained from
Practical Sailor for a fee.
Information can also be
obtained from BUC Research. These reports should be used as
a guide only,
as they are not a substitute for a completed buyer’s marine
survey.
