In
1969, Mr. Stroll became a Marine Surveyor because
of his interest in the safety and condition
of boats and yachts. Edson has been
providing a wide range of survey reports
ranging from small pleasure boats and
yachts to large commercial vessels and
marine facilities. Condition and evaluation
surveys reports are provided for financing
and insurance companies. Marine
Accident Reconstruction and Insurance
Damage Claim Reports are provided for
attorneys and insurance companies. Environmental
Impact Reports for shipyards, marine
facilities and marine recreation areas
are also provided under his Hazmat endorsement.
Edson is qualified as an OSHA Hazard
Material Specialist and Emergency First
Responder.
Mr.
Stroll has a reputation for delivering
expert opinions as an expert witness
in marine court cases. He is noted for
rendering unusually complete and in-depth
surveys, Marine Accident Reconstruction
reports, and damage reports. Every
aspect of a vessel’s condition including
engines, tanks, hull, fittings, decks,
cabin housing, equipment, safety and
environmental items are covered. Edson
has supervised vessel construction and
is experienced in all types
of construction, including fiberglass,
steel, and wood. One of the focuses
of his business has been performing
nondestructive testing for both government
and private industries and Environmental
Risk Assessments for the
Bureau of Toxic Substance Control.
In
his capacity as a Marine Surveyor, Mr.
Stroll has traveled extensively, serving
as an advisor and consultant for overseas
shipbuilders. Edson was a technical
advisor and consultant for the long
running television series “ McHale’s
Navy” and also portrayed the role of
“Virgil” in that series for 4 ½ years.
In 1978, Mr. Stroll extended his expertise
in Maine Surveying into the non-destructive
testing field as Level II with the American
Society for Non-destructive Testing.
He is a Commercial Panelist for the
American Arbitration Association, a
member of The Society of Naval Architects
& Marine Engineers, and an Affiliate
Member of the Classic Yacht Association.
Current licenses are: Cal State
Certified Appraiser, Cal Department
of Health Services Inspector/Assessor,
and Cal EPA Environmental Risk Assessor.
